About Vijaya
I'm an approachable, thorough tutor with over 6+ years of experience teaching. I have a first from Oxford, and an LLM and PhD from Cambridge in Law, where I received a Distinction and passed my viva with minor corrections. I was a lecturer and supervisor at Cambridge, overseeing dissertations not only in law, but also those overlapping other subjects in the humanities. I love helping students achieve their best (I know how daunting any kind of research can be). I have specific expertise in History, Politics, Law, and Geography, but I have assisted students across all disciplines to get the best marks possible. I've received consistently positive feedback for my supervision at Cambridge, as well as from private tutees. Almost all my students have achieved either firsts or high 2:1s/commendations for their research. I recently helped an undergraduate student at a London university get a distinction in 2 key pieces of coursework as well as their final thesis in History, and another graduate get a distinction in their politics MA thesis. I also have 6+ years of tutoring experience in Politics, History, English, Law and Geography across all exam boards, right from GCSE through to A Level and to degree level. As an experienced writer and editor as well as a supervisor and tutor overseeing dissertations and theses, I understand how difficult it can be to think about, compile and write an effective piece of research at all levels. I help undergraduates, Masters students and PhD students alike. I come to our first lesson prepared on whatever subject you're working on, with a wealth of ideas and knowledge of proven approaches built up over several years. However, I will first get a sense of your project so far, including your own approach, ideas, and challenges, before drawing up a plan to move forward together. I'll identify how I can help you most effectively - right from formulating a plan and expressing your ideas clearly so you can tackle literature reviews and chapters, to editing or improving your first draft, and polishing your final version to make it perfect. I'm particularly good at providing incisive commentary and consistent feedback on your arguments through the lens of an examiner, having been one myself. If you just need help with proofreading and a final check on your finished version, I can help with that too.
