About Jan

Welcome!

I am a Computational Mathematics student currently on exchange at Macquarie University in Sydney from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. My academic background centers on quantitative risk analysis, econometrics, calculus, and programming. Over the past two years, I have helped students across various learning stages build confidence, master technical concepts, and achieve significant grade improvements.

Beyond private tutoring, I have served as an instructor at IT Academy, guiding diverse learners through practical software engineering and algorithmic problem-solving.

Whether you are aiming to top your HSC exams, navigate university-level calculus, master Python programming, or transition into a quantitative/tech role as an adult learner, my goal is to give you the exact tools and habits you need to succeed independently.

---

Qualifications & Real-World Background

* Proven Tutoring Track Record:* 2+ years of structured 1-on-1 private tutoring across mathematics, statistics, and programming.

* Classroom Instruction:* Instructor experience at IT Academy teaching beginner programmers foundational code and logic.

---

*Who My Lessons Are For*

* Primary & Middle School Students (Years 5–8):* High-achieving students looking to build early mathematical intuition, problem-solving habits, or introductory coding fundamentals.

* High School Students (HSC Years 9–12):* Standard/Advanced Mathematics, Extension 1 & 2, introductory programming, and quantitative logic.

* University Students:* Applied Calculus, Linear Algebra, Business Statistics, Econometrics, and Python for Data Analysis.

* Adult Learners & Professionals:* Career-changers looking to learn Python, data analysis, or strengthen foundational mathematics for tech, finance, or business.

---

*Lesson Structure & Pricing*

* Duration:* Standard *1-hour* (60-minute) sessions.
*Introductory Rate:*$20/hour* (a discounted launch rate offered upon my recent arrival in Sydney to establish local reviews).

* First Lesson Free:*100% Free**trial session to evaluate your current baseline, discuss your goals, and outline a customized study strategy.

---

*My Core Methodology*

*Active Recall:* Retention checks at the start of every session to lock in prior material before introducing new topics.
* Feynman Technique:* Stripping complex mathematical theorems and code down to visual, plain-English concepts.
*Mind Mapping:* Visualizing problem architectures and data flows before touching formulas or code.
* Cornell Method:* Real-time, step-by-step problem-solving using practical exercises to build structured reference notes.
*Habit Systems & Accountability:* Implementing clear milestone systems to eliminate procrastination between sessions.
* Spaced Repetition:* Tracking performance data to time your revision schedules around natural memory curves.
