About Terry
As a young adult (24M), I very much understand the struggle of balancing work, school, and practice while maintaining high efficiency and consistency in all 3.
Growing up, I never had the opportunity for private lessons and relied solely on mentorship from Johnny Yancey (Legacy Memphis Trumpet player and educator at the Memphis Jazz Workshop) until I went to college. Not only did this experience develop my appreciation for good mentors, but it taught me the virtues of being patient and understanding with your students. I aspire to carry similar decorum in my work and help students develop their own love for the art form they're pursuing.

I have ample experience playing in numerous types of ensembles (Big band, Wind Ensemble, Latin/Mariachi, Second Line/New Orleans, Small Group Jazz Combo, R&B band, Pop/Wedding Bands, etc.), and have studied with the likes of Eric Reed, Gregory Tardy, Mike Rodriguez, Bruce Harris, etc.
Additionally, I've done private teaching and masterclasses around Memphis and Knoxville for 4+ years and have done gigs in several notorious NYC venues such as Smalls Jazz Club
