About Lauren
I didn’t think I would study English in higher education until my final year at high school. By that point, I was a year into my GCSE’s and my English classes had been taught by constantly rotating substitutes. At the start of year 11, however, a new teacher was assigned to our class- Mrs. Casey. She pushed and inspired us to love the subject and got us back on track. It was her enthusiasm that helped me decide to take this path in life.
I can’t imagine anything more rewarding than being someone’s Mrs. Casey. Teaching something I am passionate about with the goal of inspiring others and perhaps igniting a new love for them seems to be a pretty good goal to have. As your tutor I hope to make your lessons exciting, refreshing and enjoyable.

I like to make my lessons engaging and enjoyable for students by teaching them to be insightful and think outside of the box, rather than just telling them the answer. Subjects like English are not objective like Maths or Science, so rather than forcing a student to memorise numbers I will encourage them to approach an exam question or idea from different perspectives. At GCSE, my grades were in the top 1% of the country and my A-Levels were also high. Now, at one of the best universities in the country, I would love to share my passion for English with younger students. I will provide comprehension and writing techniques, as well as resources students can use outside of tutoring hours.
