About Manya
Hi! My name is Manya, and I am a Behavioral Neuroscience student at Simon Fraser University with a passion for helping students grow academically and build confidence in their abilities. I have experience working with children and youth through volunteer leadership, childcare, and community involvement, which has strengthened my communication, patience, and mentoring skills.
I understand that every student learns differently, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. Whether a student needs help improving their English skills or arithmetic in Math, building confidence in writing, or staying organized with schoolwork, I strive to make lessons engaging, personalized, and productive.
I am dependable, approachable, and committed to helping students feel more confident and successful in their learning journey.

My approach as a math tutor is supportive, patient, and focused on helping students build confidence while strengthening their problem-solving skills. I understand that many students can feel overwhelmed by math, so I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace.
My teaching methodology focuses on breaking down complex concepts into simpler, manageable steps. I guide students through examples, explain problem-solving strategies clearly, and provide practice questions to reinforce understanding. I also adapt lessons based on the students’ learning styles and academic needs.
A typical lesson includes reviewing previous concepts, working through new material step-by-step, practicing questions together, and ending with independent problem-solving and feedback. I can assist students with homework, test preparation, foundational math skills, and improving overall confidence in the subject.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my encouraging communication style and ability to explain concepts in a clear and approachable way. As a Behavioral Neuroscience student at Simon Fraser University, I value patience, adaptability, and helping students feel more capable and motivated in their learning.
My lessons are primarily for elementary to high school students who need support with general math, homework help, exam preparation, or building stronger foundational skills.
