About Ruchir
Welcome! I'm Ruchir, your potential tutor, a researcher and MSc Theoretical Physics student with a background in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, based in the land of the rising sun, Japan. With top standardised scores, including a 900/990 on the GRE Physics subject test and perfect SAT scores in Maths and Physics, I specialise in making difficult looking subjects approachable, intuitive, and engaging so you can hit your academic goals.
Lessons are conducted in English. For elementary, middle, and high school students, I offer comprehensive tutoring across all of Maths and Physics, from foundational arithmetic and algebra to calculus and standardised test prep. For university students, I provide specialised guidance in upper level coursework, whether Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, Thermodynamics, or Mathematical Physics.
My teaching philosophy centres on building deep physical intuition from first principles rather than relying on memorisation. Through relatable analogies and by separating the physics from intimidating maths equations, I help you understand the "why" behind every formula, not just the "how."

My motto, both as a student and as a teacher, has always been: intuition over memorization. I first identify the student's current level and any gaps in their understanding, then build upon concepts step-by-step using intuitive explanations, with the aim of creating an experience of discovery rather than simply handing down facts.
For Maths and Physics, I particularly focus on explaining the reasoning behind formulae and methods, so that students develop the confidence to tackle unfamiliar problems independently.
Lessons will tentatively be 60 minutes, although I am happy to adapt the length depending on the student's age, level, and needs.
I have extensive experience teaching and explaining concepts to my peers in academic and work settings, covering subjects including Mathematics, Applied Physics, and languages. This has taught me to adapt my explanations to different levels of understanding and learning styles.
I work with students from elementary school through high school, including those preparing for major international and national standardized examinations in mathematics and physics (e.g., SAT, GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, and others). For students preparing for a specific exam, I ask that they share their curriculum or syllabus in advance so I can tailor lessons precisely to what they're expected to know.
