About Summer
Hi, I’m Summer :) I was born in China and have been living in Sydney for over a decade. I’m passionate about food, nutrition, wellness, psychology, and a bit of neuroscience — I love how they all connect. I really believe in the idea that we are what we eat; the way we nourish our body can influence our brain, energy and overall mood. When I’m not cooking, you’ll probably find me at the beach, hiking, trying new cafés, traveling, being outdoors, or learning something random just for fun. I’m an open-minded, curious, playful and creative person — both in how I think and how I cook. I’d love to help you feel confident and excited in your cooking journey!

For me, food has always been more than simply “eating to get full” — it’s about feeling well, feeling connected, and feeling happy.
I grew up on delicious Chinese home cooking from my family — especially my grandma’s authentic recipes. Over the years, I’ve also become very interested in nutrition, healthy eating, anti-aging and overall wellness. I love playing with simple ingredients, adding a little creative twist to keep meals interesting, nourishing and fun.
How I teach
I focus on simple, home-style dishes that are realistic to make in everyday life. If you’d like to learn more challenging dishes — no problem :) I’m happy to guide you step-by-step in an authentic way.
You’ll learn:
• How to make real Chinese home dishes
• Lighter, healthier ways to cook without losing flavour
• Everyday ingredients that support gut health & mood
• How to mix Chinese + Western flavours creatively
• Variations so you can adjust to your own taste
• Skills & methods you can reuse across many dishes
If you're interested, I'm happy to explain why we use certain ingredients and how they can support digestion, energy, immunity, or skin health : )
What a typical class looks like
• Usually 60mins, flexible up to 3 hours
• Beginner friendly, fun, and practical
• We tailor the lesson to what you're interested in
• Step-by-step guidance through prep + cooking
• I’ll show you which Chinese pantry staples and condiments are tasty, clean, and easy to use at home.
• I can teach you how to add Asian flavours into simple Western dishes — salads, sandwiches, soups, dressings — to make them more fun and flavourful.
• I can also help you plan menus, from no-prep ideas to a whole table of dishes for family or friends

- Healthy stir-fried veggies (healthy + nourishing)
- Mapo tofu (spicy; perfect with rice)
- Noodle soup (warm + satisfying)
- Fried rice (great for leftovers)
- Chinese cold dishes / salads (refreshing + full of flavour)
- Health-boosting congee (gentle on digestion)
- Chinese herbal / chicken soup (supports immunity)
- Hot pot at home (my favourite! Perfect for family & friends)
A big part of my cooking style is variety. There’s growing science suggesting that people who eat around 30 different plant foods a week have happier guts, better energy, and even nicer skin.
Sounds intense, right? But once you learn my way of putting meals together, you’ll realise it’s much easier than you think — and honestly, kind of fun!
