About Renzhu

Digressing from the pervasive utopian narratives of technical enhancement and bodily augmentation, my fascination has always gravitated towards the unsettling yet fertile intersections where bodies and technology converge. Inspired by avant-garde explorations like Marion Lavat-Jeantet's transpecies assimilation of horse immunoglobulin, Dani Ploeger's blockchain-mediated post-reproductive intimacy, Theresa Schubert's auto-cannibalism of ingesting her in-vitro thigh, and Bite Labs's tongue-in-cheek approach to celebrity DNA commodification, I am eager to further expound my own vernaculars of post-human economy through MA Art and Science.

Graduating with Distinction A+ in Performance: Design and Practice from CSM, I have honed a keen research and practice acumen that I believe will flourish within the course's unparalleled interdisciplinary environment and extensive institutional networks. This program's commitment to inclusivity and its state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Grow Lab and Digital Media Workshop, present the ideal setting for my ambitious projects to artistically probe and challenge the often exclusionary narratives prevalent in science.

My work as an interdisciplinary artist encompasses a wide range of mediums, including screen technologies, prosthetics, workshops, installations, and performance art, all unified by a common theme: the monstrous disruption of established identities and bodily norms. For instance, my performance film "Domestic Tetsuo" subverts traditional narratives by repurposing a domestic cleaning robot to spread menstrual blood, thereby critiquing the sanitised, masculinised discourse of Western health and scien
