About Emma
I have always had a love for Maths and consider myself very lucky that it comes naturally to me. My nickname in secondary school was "calculator" and the position of Maths Captain was awarded to me in my final year at Abbot's Hill School. My maths lessons were definitely some of my fondest memories from school. In helping others to improve their maths skills I hope my enthusiasm also rubs off on them!

Patient and adapted to the student, my teaching style boosts confidence and shows learners fresh ways to approach a maths problem. I always do extra preparation for lessons when I know the topic we will do in advance, and I enjoy making my own questions and resources. I have 15 years experience of tutoring on a one-to-one basis with many great success stories and positive feedback. I myself achieved A* and 100% in GCSE Mathematics, and taught myself Statistics GCSE during year 11 and got an A*. I taught myself A-Level Maths and AS-Level further Maths and got 94% and 92% respectively. I then continued to do higher levels of maths as part of my Natural Sciences degree at the University of Cambridge, Trinity Hall college.
Normally my students have a 1 hour lesson each time, but I am always happy to do a 90 minute or 2 hour session if it suits the student. I have experience teaching maths to people all ages, from 7 years old to adults needing to pass a maths exam for their career! Examples of the latter have been a paramedic, and an electrical engineer. I am most experienced at teaching GCSE maths but I love teaching A-Level maths and would like to help more students with this.

Perfect! Emma was highly communicative and understood the job in hand. Emma prepared well for both lessons with my son and was prompt for both . Emma managed to put my son at ease and get through a lot of content in a short space of time helping him revise for his upcoming GCSE. We were so grateful to find Emma several years ago. She helped our daughter with maths from year 7 up to completing her GCSE. Our daughter had very little confidence with the subject and was struggling with various areas, but with Emma’s gentle guidance and patience, we watched her ability and confidence soar. Emma has different ways to explain concepts and has a wonderful array of resources to allow for practise in between lessons. Our daughter really benefitted from Emma’s weekly lessons and achieved an amazing grade at GCSE. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.
We love Emma!! She’s a fabulous tutor. She is calm, reassuring, patient and understanding. She’s helped my 12 yr old daughter with her maths and my daughter has really enjoyed the sessions. Highly recommend.
Emma has been a great teacher. Always patient and has a good teaching method, so I always finished sessions having learnt and understood a little bit more, rather than leaving feeling confused. Also she has a lot of work sheets and homework for you to do. Being an adult learner, she tried to find material on topics more relevant to the course I am studying, not just helping with maths but the content of my course also.
Emma encouraged and supported my daughter with physics GCSE revision and confidence (gained a grade 6) .

Details
I have recently had to increase my hourly rates due to the cost of living increases. This cost does however include my time spent preparing topics and questions for the lesson, and preparing suitable homework as well.
Travel cost per visit, is dependent on the travel distance and typical travel time involved for me. This will only apply when I travel to the student's home for lessons.
