About Nayim
I am a Cambridge Mathematics graduate with ten years of tutoring and teaching experience and approximately 3,000 hours of teaching overall.
I hold a BA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in High-Energy Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and an MSc in Science, Technology and Society from UCL, awarded with Distinction. I am currently completing a PhD in energy policy at UCL and am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
I achieved five A*s at A-level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, including full marks across my Mathematics and Further Mathematics modules.
Alongside private tuition, I have taught Mathematics and Further Mathematics in secondary school and sixth form and have taught at university level, including at UCL and New York University Abu Dhabi.
I specialise particularly in A-level and IB Mathematics, Further Mathematics, STEP, MAT and advanced mathematical problem-solving, alongside GCSE/IGCSE Mathematics and selective university admissions.
I have supported students making substantial grade improvements, including an A-level Mathematics student who progressed from D to A. I have also worked with a STEP student who went on to study Mathematics at Cambridge after achieving S grades in both STEP II and STEP III.
I hold a current Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List check and am registered with the DBS Update Service.
I am available for online tuition and suitable in-person tuition in London.

My lessons are structured around the individual student rather than a fixed template.
For students who are underperforming or lack confidence, I often use a three-stage approach: I first model the reasoning behind a problem, then we solve a similar problem collaboratively, and finally the student tackles a new problem independently while I gradually withdraw support.
For stronger students, I deliberately make the work less scaffolded. I use unfamiliar questions, compare different approaches, change assumptions, ask students to generalise results, and sometimes introduce university-style ideas. This is particularly important for Further Mathematics, STEP and MAT, where success depends on mathematical judgement rather than simply recognising familiar question types.
I also work explicitly on examination technique, including question interpretation, method selection, clear written solutions, timing and checking.
My aim is always to make students increasingly independent rather than reliant on a tutor.
