I am a civil engineering major and Spanish minor at North Dakota State University. As implied in my major I enjoy doing and teaching math. I like to constantly find new methods to teach math in ways that makes the student easily understand the concepts while being able to grasp it at a deeper level. I do believe in hands on teaching and prefer to only assist the student with problems similar to ones in their homework until they understand enough to do their homework alone. I believe the best way to teach math is to help the student understand the concept, not how to solve the current homework problem.
I have three younger siblings that I regularly assisted in math studies while growing up - my brother is now confident enough to do math by himself and my other siblings better understand the concepts taught to them, although math isn't a strong subject for either so I still help them when I am home.
I also tutored many people at my old high school due to the math teacher being hard to understand. Each person who came to me for help received better grades than those who were struggling and did not ask for help.
