About Isam
I'm training as a physician-scientist: an MD/PhD combines medical school with a research doctorate, so I split my time between clinical training and the lab. I started tutoring because explaining something is how I learn it properly myself, and I've kept at it for the moment when a student stops feeling anxious about a subject and starts arguing with it. Outside of school, I play guitar and piano.

I'm an MD/PhD student at UC Irvine, and I tutor the science courses that decide whether people continue in health careers: anatomy, physiology, histology, biochemistry, cell biology, and general biology.
Most students who struggle in these courses aren't behind on facts. They're trying to memorize material that only makes sense once you see the logic underneath it — how structure explains function, why a pathway is regulated where it is. Once that clicks, the sheer volume stops being the problem.
I work from your own lectures, lab material, and past exams rather than a separate curriculum, so our time goes directly toward the exam in front of you.
I work with nursing and pre-nursing students, allied health students (PA, PT, dental hygiene, radiologic technology), premed undergraduates, and AP Biology students. Lessons are available online or in person in the Irvine area. Small groups welcome at a reduced rate per student.
