About Anna
Hi, I'm Anna! I'm a passionate reader and writer with a love for language that I'm excited to share with my students. I believe every student has the ability to succeed in English, they just need the right guidance and someone willing to meet them where they are.
I have experience tutoring high school students in reading comprehension, essay writing, and grammar. I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to stare down a dense passage or a blank page, so I focus on breaking things down into manageable steps and building confidence along the way.
Outside of tutoring, I work in data and analytics, which means I bring a detail-oriented, structured mindset to everything I do, including how I plan lessons and track student progress. I'm patient, organized, and genuinely invested in helping each student grow.

My tutoring approach centers on building genuine comprehension rather than memorization. I start each session by identifying where a student is struggling, whether that's reading between the lines, organizing an argument, or mastering grammar rules, then tailor the lesson around those specific gaps.
I use Socratic questioning to push students to think critically rather than just receive answers. For reading comprehension, we work through annotation strategies and inference-building. For writing, I focus on structure first (thesis, evidence, transitions), then refine sentence-level clarity and voice.
Sessions usually open with a quick check-in on recent assignments or upcoming deadlines, followed by targeted skill work such as dissecting a passage, outlining an essay, or reviewing grammar concepts. We close with a short independent practice task so students leave with something concrete to build on.
I've worked extensively with high schoolers on reading comprehension, essay writing, and grammar, so I understand exactly where students tend to get stuck and how to explain the same concept three different ways until it clicks. I'm patient, direct, and focused on results.
These lessons are designed for middle school and high school students (grades 6–12) working on English Language Arts, whether prepping for standardized tests, tackling assigned novels, strengthening essay writing, or just trying to pass the class.
