About Ruben

I have a Ph.D. in English Literature and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing. I have been teaching for over ten years at the college-level. I recently taught at the Chicago High School for the Arts. I have taught creative writing, reading and writing composition, as well as literature courses.

About the lesson

My teaching focuses on asking questions about reading and writing to encourage students to discover and learn about their own writing and thinking process. I like to provide context to the material and then allow students to respond and engage texts both creatively and critically.
