How I do it:

-I begin each lesson with a five-minute storytelling session to engage and introduce key concepts, often transitioning to related questions that reinforce learning.

-lessons are for students of all ages, from kids to college students. I aim to make math easier for those who find it tough.

-Lessons are taken face to face or conduct online lessons, leveraging my extensive experience to deliver over 100+ efficient online sessions.

-I provide unique exam skills and tips derived from my practical experience in engineering studies and personal learning strategies.

-Lessons typically last between 1.5 to 2 hours, with a frequency of 2-4 times a week, tailored to individual needs, including quizzes to consolidate learning.

I've been studying math a lot because I'm studying engineering, and I know math can be difficult at times, which is why I try to help my students make things easier :)

Find out more about Rafiul Hossain

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in physics, chemistry, and mathematics during my college years, largely influenced by my fascination with how these subjects interconnect and explain the world around us. My passion for tutoring began in high school when I realized I could make complex subjects accessible and enjoyable for my peers, starting with physics and expanding to other sciences.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach mathematics, physics, and chemistry, focusing on making challenging concepts understandable through relatable examples. My favorite topics include Calculus and Newtonian physics due to their vast applications in understanding natural phenomena and engineering principles. While I find biology less engaging, I appreciate its importance in the scientific landscape.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

My college physics teacher was a significant role model for me. His enthusiasm and clarity in teaching complex theories not only deepened my interest in physics but also shaped my teaching style. His ability to relate lessons to real-world applications has left a lasting impression on how I approach tutoring.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor needs to be adaptable, patient, and insightful, with a knack for breaking down complex subjects into simpler, digestible parts. It's crucial to tailor content to each student's learning style and pace, ensuring they not only understand the material but are also able to apply the knowledge effectively.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

In one of my early tutoring sessions, I helped a student who was struggling with basic physics concepts. By relating the principles to his passion for soccer-like using the idea of motion and force to explain how kicking the ball works-he not only grasped the concept but also improved significantly in class. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of personalized learning.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or are still facing in your subject?

One ongoing challenge in teaching physics and mathematics is making abstract concepts tangible for students. Despite these subjects becoming increasingly complex at higher levels, I strive to maintain clarity and relevance, ensuring my students can visualize and understand even the most abstract theories.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Beyond my love for teaching, I have a profound passion for aviation. It's a field that combines physics, engineering, and a bit of magic. Teaching allows me to share the joy of understanding how things work, which directly feeds into my enthusiasm for aviation and the physics behind flight.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions)?

I might not be the most experienced tutor on Superprof, nor do I claim to know everything, but I believe my ability to make students truly understand and love complex subjects sets me apart. Sharing knowledge is a privilege, and seeing my students succeed is genuinely the most rewarding part of my job.
