About Charlotte

As corny as it sounds, I want to teach because I want to make others fall in love with reading in the same way I did. I remember my first literary obsession was the Harry Potter series when I was seven years old. I devoured the entire series in a matter of weeks, a big shock to my mother who had never seen me so invested in anything. Reading stoked the fire of my imagination, improving my artistic and musical abilities because my mind was not only observing and copying, but I was inspired to create.

About the lesson

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that reading is no fun if you don't understand the text. Picture this: you sit down after a long day of school and try to crack the opening scene of Macbeth. Upon first glance, you think, "what are these crackpot witches on about". Upon second glance, you think "how is this ever going to help me in the real world" and upon third glance – well, there is no third glance. By this point, you've picked up your phone and decided that TikTok, at the very least, makes more sense than this gibberish. But this gibberish is far more exciting than you might think; between the lines, there is a world of possibilities, themes and ideas that we might unpick. I aim to make some sense of this with you, and together, we can figure out what on Earth that Shakespeare bloke was on about:)
