About Rachel

I am Rachel, an English tutor with over twelve years of teaching experience and a decade of one-to-one tutoring across all key stages. My journey includes invaluable time working in Malaysia and Germany, enriching my understanding of diverse educational needs. I hold an MA in Education, a PGCE in English, Qualified Teacher Status, and I’m currently pursuing an Education Doctorate (due in 2025). Having taught Early Years for five years, I specialise in KS3 Literacy, GCSE, and A-Level English—offering personalised sessions designed to reignite a love of learning, rebuild confidence, and close critical gaps. I craft bespoke pathways to help students excel academically and secure competitive admissions, all while juggling life as a mum, a marathon runner, and a dedicated educationalist.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised to each student’s needs, helping them build confidence, improve key skills, and achieve academic success. Whether focusing on literacy foundations, exam preparation, essay writing, or professional English, I use engaging materials and a supportive approach to make learning enjoyable and effective. Sessions are structured with clear objectives, regular progress reviews, and tailored strategies to ensure steady improvement.

Rachel tailors her teaching to the individual child and makes the learning accessible. She introduces techniques to enhance recall that really worked for my son. English is not his favourite subject, hence the need for a tutor, but he really enjoyed his lessons.

Rachel is awesome! She tutored my son for Year 11 English and turned him from a disinterested, unengaged student destined for a low GCSE grade, to a student who passed at grade 6.

Rachel is warm, highly engaging and personal in her approach, which really breaks down barriers and creates a great rapport with the student.
