About Mmongi

Hi! I’m Mmongi, a third-year UNISA student studying International Relations. I have a strong academic record, consistently achieving between 75–80% across my subjects, and I’m passionate about helping others succeed in their studies.

I’ve always been drawn to subjects like English, AP English, History, Politics, and Media because they help us understand the world around us—and I enjoy making these topics easier and more interesting for students to learn. I’m patient, approachable, and committed to creating a comfortable space where students feel confident asking questions and learning at their own pace.

Alongside my studies, I’ve developed strong communication and organisational skills through remote work experience, which helps me stay structured and responsive as a tutor. I also take time to learn and apply effective study techniques, so I can support students not just with content, but with how to learn better.

My goal is to help students feel more confident, improve their results, and develop skills they can use long after our lessons.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on understanding rather than memorisation. I break down complex English concepts—such as grammar, comprehension, essay writing, and literature analysis—into simple, structured explanations. I use bullet-point notes, summaries, and real-world examples to make learning clear and accessible.

I also integrate proven study and language retention techniques to help students improve their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills in a way that lasts beyond the lesson.

A unique part of my lessons is guiding students on how to use AI tools responsibly and ethically to support learning. This includes using AI to improve writing, organise ideas, and strengthen understanding—while maintaining academic integrity and avoiding plagiarism. This gives students a modern academic advantage while keeping their work authentic.
