About Cara
I am passionate about tutoring and coaching students, with my first experience of teaching being tutoring for 11+ exams while at university. Having qualified as an English teacher in 2017, I enjoy being able to form strong relationships with students and watch them progress in both their confidence and their academic. I have been teaching English at secondary school for six years, with experience in the KS3, GCSE and IGCSE, IB and A Level curricula, as well as experience in public speaking and debating. I have a strong track record of helping students secure top marks at GCSE, IB and A Level, as well as gaining acceptance to Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group universities.
I believe that students at any stage of their scholarly journey in English should be active participants and leaders in their own development. I do not allow students to ‘give up’ on themselves and instead take a positive and constructive approach, focusing on what they can do, and using that as a starting point to their develop skills further I am equally conscious of the necessity of extending and challenging the most capable students, for whom achieving a high grade should be only the beginning of their scholarly journey, rather than the end result. I have taught a number of high achieving A Level and IB classes and have successfully mentored several students through the process of Oxbridge application, entrance exams and interviews.
