About Jacob

I have written coursework and helped design courses at MIT, taught seminars on microbiology for K-8 science teachers, and organized STEM outreach events at K-8 schools in the greater Boston Area with fun, hands-on experiments to teach concepts in microbiology and genetics.
Since the pandemic, I have helped parents and students navigate the challenges of online learning as it relates to STEM.

A science class can cover an enormous breadth of subject matter, and each student will have different obstacles in understanding a topic. The single most important aspect of excellent tutoring is the ability to articulate ideas clearly, rather than having advanced knowledge in a specific subject matter.
We begin the first tutoring session by reviewing the syllabus of the relevant course(s) and determining if we are a good fit; I tutoror all undergraduate biology subjects, undergraduate statistics courses, and any STEM topic K-12!

I met Jake through a Facebook group matching tutors to students when the pandemic began to tutor my son for AP biology. My son was struggling with zoom learning and with AP biology especially, but Jake really helped turn him around and he got an A. Now that my son is done with the class Jake ask me to post an honest review. I was skeptical about online tutoring at first but I really say honestly he is 10/10 worth every Penny
Jake helped me out in this insanely hard chemistry course where I got behind really fast. I was able to catch up and I ended up really liking it!
Jacob really helped our daughter, who was struggling with science classes, to learn all about fungi and natural systems, a topic we knew little about and had no idea she was interested in. She has since been learning on her own about the chemistry of natural medicines and wants to apply for a biotechnology internship in Cambridge next summer.
He is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the material and knows how to present it in such a way that is patient and engaging
Jacob is really patient and walks you through all of the steps to solve a problem. He’s really smart, but really met me where I was at with the material. Would highly recommend!
