About AJ
I offer easy to follow recipes, techniques and shortcuts that don't overwhelm; producing the same results if you were to spend all day in the kitchen.
I simply enjoy taking the complication out of cooking which can press so many of us when wanting to learn how to cook.
It was really at the behest of friends. I would help them with dinners, or, making cakes for their kids' bake sales, and they suggested it. My first student was a new wife who wanted to learn how to make a lasagne to impress her mother-in-law.
I've been a home cook most of my life, dabbling in catering and teaching throughout. My real story is I began a home-based baking business in 2007 in Pennsylvania. Since moving to LA, I've spent the last 5 years working in pastry and bread in some of the more notable restaurants in the city including Joan's On Third, Connie and Ted's, Bottega Louie and Angler Los Angeles.

From 18 - 62. From novice, to practical cooks and culinary experts in savory who never made a ganache in their life.
Be sure what you want to learn is something you feel passionate about. Otherwise, you're wasting both our time, and, more importantly, your money.
I'm fond of them all. Every experience has been a fun and educational one.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Is this what you really want to do? I can not stress this enough. So many people were making bread during lockdown, that doesn't mean you should now have to make bread when it seems like a good idea in theory, however, by no means, a process you really wish to physically take part in.

I price according to what I'll be teaching. If it's bread doughs and pastry, it will be more. Thanksgiving dinner for 8? Less. A simple supper for family? Negotiable.
