My standards for a new student is Respect & Honor. First we train on the Element of Physical Strength. As they apply themselves to learning what Respect and Honor is they will each build Discipline. Shortly after a student learns Discipline they will learn Self Control . As days turn to months & months to years in the dojo they build Confidence. Once they decided to accept the Lundi Challenge, Courtesy is next. The final goal is achievement. At this point the student(s) will learn that there is not such thing as "CAN'T".
I've trained an array of students. From different cultures, ethnicities, classes, race and people who have disabilities.
