About James
I will go through your materials and pull out relevant information into a simple formula/theorem sheet for you to refer to. I will help you learn how to THINK differently, so you can succeed on your own.
I love to teach! Whether it’s young kids or college age or older, I just love the process for learning. I love when something “clicks” and there is mutual understanding.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science and Statistics from Brigham Young University. There I also tutored and was the teaching assistant for Statistics classes for both advanced and beginning students. My mathematical experience ranges from basic algebra to multi-variable calculus. I am passionate about learning and teaching what I learn. Other areas of interest include Spanish, sciences, English grammar, piano and guitar, and test-taking.

I like to get to know my students, and to understand where the are at with their understanding and desire to learn. I will then make a specific plan, with benchmarks for progression with a deadline in mind (this might be a course final, or an exam date).
I have worked with students as young as 5, and students as old as 45! Typically my students just need help learning to think through problems on their own. Often my students come to me seeking to learn a skill or to prepare for a specific exam.

Perfect! I hired James this week and immediately felt ecstatically hopeful! My son has been nearly impossible to work with in math and very resistant to any help or homework.
