About Eric
When I was a teenager, I worked for the City of Mesa watching elementary children for two summers. While I was attending ASU, I worked as a math tutor for two semesters, and a teacher's assistant for two semesters. So, although all my tutoring experience is with college students, I can work with any age and just about any math subject. I want to teach because it's a passion of mine. I'm willing to work at any pace and to explore new methods of teaching. We'll work together until you feel comfortable with the concept!
I currently work as a full-time electrical engineer, but I've found that I really love teaching. While I was in college, I tutored math and I never woke up dreading to go to work. I love helping others understand concepts with which they are struggling. My mother, sister, grandmother and grandfather were all teachers, so I think it's in my blood.
I began teaching as a math tutor at ASU. Some friends of mine were also tutors, and I quickly realized that I love teaching!
I have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, so I've had to take a lot of math classes. I'm most comfortable with anything up to Calculus II, linear algebra and differential equations. I have also worked as a math tutor for ASU for two semesters and as a TA for two semesters.

When I first begin working with someone, I like to get to know them first. What are their likes and dislikes? Why do they feel like they need a tutor? What's their favorite subject in school? Then I'll go from there. I feel that it is much easier to teach someone that you know than a complete stranger.
I've mainly worked with college students, but I have also helped siblings and peers.
Find someone that is passionate about what they do. The reason I love math so much is because my teachers in high school loved math, and it was apparent. In my opinion, if a subject isn't fun for you, it's because of your teacher.

Have you Googled it? How many times have you banged your head against the table trying to figure out this problem? Are you willing to work hard so that you actually understand the problem and not just get the answer?

I'm usually pretty flexible with my lessons. If there is something in particular that needs to be hashed out, I don't mind teaching until things are worked out. I typically charge $30 per lesson.
