About Hazel
As a teacher's child, I spent much more time in the classroom than most. I watched my mom work her hardest every single day, bringing home massive piles of busywork that would consume her evenings, all in the hopes that she could in some way help her students grow.
I try to channel her love and passion into each and every student-teacher relationship I form. As a result of my drive to do everything I can for each child as an individual, I have become proficient teaching all subjects, often covering several in each session.
I believe that before all else, a student must feel safe, respected, and understood. If they don't, their motivation to learn will falter. I have experience working with children from a wide variety of backgrounds, especially neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ children. No two students are the same, and each one of them deserves an individualized plan.
I love having a long-term relationship with my students and getting to see their progress. A student coming into a session excitedly telling me about their success in school absolutely makes my day every time.
Most of all, however, I am grateful for the opportunity to help my students beyond academic measurements. Before my time working with a student is finished, I hope to give them something that will help equip them for the future and guide them to be a kinder person.
