About Mark
I'm a graduate of Philosophy and Mathematics MA (Edinburgh, first class).
I have experience both as a private tutor and as a maths tutor in secondary schools. I also have experience as a primary school TA, as a debating coach and as a leader of a school-based mentoring project.

I am an understanding and patient teacher. Unlike many tutors, I know what it is like to find maths difficult, confusing and frustrating. I can stretch students, but I can nurture their mathematical confidence too. A good tutor does both, for each and every student.
I aim to teach students not just how to pass any exams they may have, but also how to think like a mathematician. The latter is what sets my students up for success in the long-term, both in maths and in other subjects. It gives students an invaluable grounding in how to think critically and how to solve problems, giving them an arsenal of mathematical methods and approaches that they know they can rely on.
I start where the student starts, and what I offer varies to suit them. My lessons range from 30 minutes up to two hours, depending on the student's stage, needs and goals. I teach from early primary school up to A-level, and lessons can be online or face-to-face in London.
