About Christopher
24 Years old, Bachelor's degree in General Music from Columbia College Chicago, was in school percussion from 6th-11th grade, teaching out of HGS Music in NW Indiana, played drum set since 13 years old, I gig with my hometown band Shoreline Frenzy and I have been gigging professionally since I was 19. I have played with legends such as Jake Cinninger of Umphrey's McGee, members of m.o.e., Fareed Haque of Garaj Mahal, and Kofi Baker from Sons of Cream. My specialties as a musician include playing genres such as progressive rock, jazz fusion, funk, plus my knowledge of and ability to play odd time signatures. My number one artist I look up to most is Frank Zappa.

About the lesson

All languages in which the lesson is available :
English
I focus on giving you a foundation in rhythm, coordination, and reading. My core philosophy is that music is a language, so I try to help teach in a similar fashion to learning English. I build up from letters (notes), to words (rudiments, etc.), to sentences (measures, grooves, etc.), to grammar (phrasing, placement, etc.), to independently speaking and communicating with others and learning from others (playing songs and creating original grooves/fills). I will make it so you can have confidence in your ability to play and communicate with others, so that you can become the musician you want to be. I will focus individually on your goals and develop a curriculum that best fits your needs/wants, using reading, listening, playing, and providing context.
