One of the first things I like to do when starting with a new student is develop a positive rapport and assess their learning styles. I feel like that is the most important aspect of a learning environment. My teaching format is more of a Q&A style, but also open to discussion with more complicated topics. Lessons are open to any levels or classes with individuals willing to learn.
