Perfect! I was recommended Sean from another parent and couldn't be happier. My preteen has had a handful of online lessons with Sean now and we're excited to keep lessons going. Sean has shown to be an attentive and caring music instructor and I can see my son's confidence growing after each lesson - which really warms my heart knowing he not only enjoys practicing now, but also seems to be getting so much from these music lessons. Anyways, I can't recommend Sean enough and am happy my son gets to keep working with him.

Perfect! Sean is a stellar jazz drum set teacher! First of all, he made me feel supported and safe to try new things- I felt encouraged every step of the way, which for me is really important. I specifically wanted to work on my ride cymbal pattern and the way Sean explained it and demonstrated helped me have a breakthrough in my understanding. I am so grateful for his instruction, expertise and encouragement. I can’t wait to take more lessons with Sean! He is the real deal.

Perfect! I’m a very experienced but untrained Drummer. Sean asked me to play a few songs, watched my technique, And had great suggestions for what I should work on. he really packed a lot of information and training suggestions into the hour. He clearly knows what he’s doing.

Perfect! My teenage daughter who has been drumming for a few years just had her first lesson with Sean. She has specific goals for high school band and wanted some extra help to get there. Sean was very organized, friendly and had great teaching style. He came up with ideas for how my daughter can achieve her goals and we plan to stay with Sean to achieve them.

I serve as a board member of a prominent school district and I work in the schools. I can tell you without a doubt, Sean is an extraordinary teacher.

He seriously cares, inspires and “gets” kids. My teenager loves learning drums and percussion from Sean. He is a pleasure to learn from and listening to him play is mind-blowing for the moms out there!

Sean has been amazing with my daughter. We started with Sean 3 years ago and then immediately went remote because of Covid and now we stayed remote since we don’t live close anymore. He’s so patient and explains things so well. My daughter has excelled at piano with him. They even started drum lessons and now they do both within the 45 minute lesson. There are even recital’s remotely that my daughter has done. And our family around the country has been able to see. We recommend Sean to anyone who is looking for lessons either in person or remote.

Sean is a fantastic drum teacher. I have been taking lessons with him for about 2 years and in that time I have learned so much and felt genuinely supported. I had been having trouble with my double stroke roll and he really helped clean my hands up. Really helped with my technique.

Sean has been teaching me for about 6 months now and he’s truly turned into a mentor of mine. I started from scratch and I’ve already learned a bunch of grooves and styles, but more importantly Sean’s made me more passionate and engaged in music as a whole. He’s a super caring, supportive, articulate, and devoted teacher and he clearly has a profound love of music. He’s sure to not just show how to play something but teach you how music and rhythm work as a whole. Plus he is an amazing, amazing drummer. I wholeheartedly recommend his teaching to people of any age or style :)

Find out more about Sean

1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?
I started piano lessons at 8 and switched to drums at 12 and it’s been a never ending love in my life since.
2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers
Cannonball Adderley Sextet
Wynton Kelly Trio
3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
All of my lessons are personalized and tailored to the students interests and current level of ability. We would find the riveting and challenging material together.

I don’t have set courses like an academic tutor would, private lessons are more individualized than taking a college course.
4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
I believe each instrument has a different soul and culture to it. Each one possesses a different history that informs the spirit of the desire behind wanting to play that instrument. That being said, playing drum set and coordinating all 4 limbs at the same time is a lot for most people hahahaha…
5) What are your keys to success?
Listening. Listening. Listening.
I have a weird superpower in which I’ve never been burned out once playing drums…there is always so much inspiration to be drawn from recordings. At the heart of playing any instrument, must be a love affair with listening.
6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
I’d love to meet some of my favorite drummers Kenny Washington and Joe Strasser some day.
Joe Magnarelli and Terrell Stafford on trumpet.
Mike LeDonne and Bill Charlap on piano.
There are so many…
7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
Hahaha. At the beginning of my 6th grade year when students were being assigned and asked what instrument they wanted to play, I told my band director drums! He asked what would be my second choice, I said there is no second choice it’s going to be drums! He laughed pretty hard and told me to be serious. I replied drums again and his amusement turned into annoyance as he asked again. I replied trumpet in dismay and started on drums the next week.
8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
I cater every lesson to the student. The students music tastes, the students availability, the students academic needs as well as any accommodations each student needs to deepen their love for music.
