About Erin
I am a graduate of English Literature, who has always loved language and the ways people use it. While I know some people have a hard time accessing literature because of complicated language or an inaccessibility, I hope to help students realise that literature can be very personal, and that complicated language can always be broken down, something I had to for my degree a lot! I hope to help some young people grow to love literature in the same way I do, and that this helps make your exams seem less daunting and serious than some teachers can make them seem. If you are dealing with any exam anxiety then I hope I can be a help in curbing some of those nerves, so that you get the best out of your school career, and out of literature in general.

My teaching style is friendly and individually focused, to meet the needs of every student. No question is too silly or out there - questions that provoke a thought or idea are always useful, and I know there are times when students feel they can't ask them, but rest assured this is a safe space! This space will also be a safe one for Queer, trans, and LGBTQ+ students, with time and ideas that incorporate queer issues into teaching, which can sometimes be missed. Moreover, teaching about literary theories can also feature into teaching if students wish it too, including that of intersectional feminism, critical race theory, psychoanalysis, queer theory, postcolonialism as well as important historical and social context for specific literary works. This added into teaching will not only boost your grade, but also give a greater understanding to the world we all live in.
A typical lesson will be 50 minutes of work, with ten minutes of flexibility for checking in and out, and to make sure students have the right resources with them.
These lessons will be suitable for students studying for their GCSE's and A Levels, so aged between 14 and 18.
