About Tyson
I’ve been playing drums for twelve years and received my bachelor’s degree in music performance. My capstone project was focused on the musical behavior elements of mass protest, including a jazz composition with the various sonic elements.
I was given the freedom to study music as I wanted to, and I want to gift that structure to my music students. My ultimate goal as an educator is to give students the tools to engage with their practice as authentically as possible.

Different students have different needs in relation to their play, and as such my approach is to meet you where you are. No point splitting hairs about broken-time feel when you can’t spang -a- lang. And no point talking about swing if you’re trying to play blast beats.
