Find out more about Dr Wayne MD

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I developed an interest in internal medicine during my medical education, where I found the complexity of diagnosing and treating various conditions fascinating. As for private tutoring, my passion for sharing knowledge emerged during my time in medical school when I enjoyed helping my peers understand challenging concepts.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach all topics in the medical syllabus (including all major and minor postings/clerkships), with a focus on techniques and skills to answer the questions in the exams. I particularly enjoy discussing topics related to USMLE (as I am the USMLE candidate who applying for the US residency program), as they provide a solid foundation for understanding complex medical cases.
  • Did you have any role models; or a teacher who inspired you?

One of my role models was a professor (Prof Lee) who instilled in me the importance of clear communication and fostering a supportive learning environment. Their dedication to student success inspired my approach to teaching.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

To be a good tutor, I believe patience, effective communication, adaptability to different learning styles, and a genuine passion for the subject are crucial. These qualities help create an engaging and supportive learning experience. Don't forget the most important criterion is to guide the students using skills and techniques to answer in their exams.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

An anecdote from my school days involves overcoming a particularly challenging case during my internal medicine rotation. It taught me the importance of collaboration, critical thinking, and perseverance in the medical field.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Challenges in USMLE teaching include staying updated with rapidly evolving medical knowledge and adapting to new treatment modalities. Continuous learning is essential to provide the best guidance to my students.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My particular passion lies in teaching and helping others understand the complexities of internal medicine. Witnessing students grasp challenging concepts and excel in their studies is incredibly rewarding.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

Besides answering these interview questions, what makes me a SuperPof is my dedication to creating a positive and effective learning experience. I prioritize my students' success and continuously seek ways to enhance my teaching methods.
