About Frank
I'm Frank and I'm doing this for the money. JUST KIDDING, the reason I signed up for SuperProf is because I truly love Math as a subject, but as a high school student myself, I have firsthand experience of how the curriculum could make Math unenjoyable and even difficult to understand at times. I think Math translates so much to the real world whether or not you branch into a STEM profession in the future. The logical thinking skills you develop from doing Math is just astounding. But in my opinion, this can only happen if you truly understand the things that you're doing. So yeah, I'm essentially doing this to share my love of Math in the way that I see it, and to help others coast through this very stigmatized subject by approaching concepts from different angles. While I don't have any impressive formal qualifications, they are, in my opinion, adequate for the concepts that I'll be teaching: Excellence in the Level 1 MCAT (taken in year 10) Excellence Course Endorsement for "Level 2 Math - Algebra and Calculus" (course taken in year 11) Currently taking "Level 3 MAE" (year 12 student)

These lessons heavily align with the mathematics curriculum of New Zealand, going through concepts that the student will cover throughout their education. While the concepts themselves will be organized based on this curriculum, the teaching style and methodologies will deviate a lot. My teaching will have a massive emphasis on making the student understand rather than just memorize or know the concept, giving them the logical and life-applicable skills that doing Maths in school aims to do. These lessons are primarily targeted towards students in New Zealand in the primary to secondary age range (years 1 to 13). Specifically, mathematical concepts that are covered from year 1 to year 10, along with algebra and calculus concepts from year 11 to year 13 (everything but statistics). Hour-long lessons are preferred, but could be adjusted depending on the student's needs and wants. With each student, I'll have a 10-20 minute orientation session (unpaid of course) to see their current level and deduce next steps. From there, we can arrange hour-long lessons once or twice a week.
