About Arushi
Hi! My name is Arushi. I am a junior in high school who has previously volunteered in teaching STEM and English classes to children in 1st-6th grade. I have taught group classes as well as one on one classes. Outside of school, I am leader of our schools Latin and Greek club, a member in my school's Math Club and the Johns Hopkins University CTY math club. I also volunteer with advocacy groups like RESULTS St. Louis, a movement that advocates legislation to end global poverty. My hobbies include drawing, playing the piano, writing and listening to the same song 38 times in a row, until I'm sick of it and can't hear it anymore.

When I teach a mathematical concept I want to teach students why those concepts work, not only how they work. They should understand the applications of the concepts and how they tie in with other topics they might study in the future. This will hone their critical thinking skills and make them better at math, rather than better at following a set of steps.
Regardless of what I'm teaching in English, I like to have the students practice writing. Incorporating grammar into writing will make them understand grammatical rules better, improve their reading comprehension skills and set a good foundation for developing writing skills in high schools.
Another great way to improve English Skills is to read more, so I will look for books I think the student will learn from and enjoy.
I will assign homework if the student wants it. My students are welcome to email/text me outside of class, and I would share my phone number and email after we started classes together.
