About Vela
Hi! My name is Vela, and I am a recent Museum Science, M.A. graduate. During my time obtaining my master's degree, I focused on museum education and programming. I worked in museum education for every age group from children barely walking to post-graduate adults. My programming engaged primarily with American History topics, but my education has given me the skills to take on any topic and learn alongside you. I created and led educational programming for a nature center, art museum, children's museum, and archive during my time obtaining my degree. I also spent 2 years student teaching A.P. History and Civics while obtaining my undergraduate degree.

My lessons integrate museum programming in my learning approach through creating connection to the subject. In our lessons, we will meet you where you are at, using your learning style to create custom lessons. I go above and beyond to create interactive and "gamified" learning that help you grasp the foundational information. Using this method, details feel like supporters to the larger story, but are far easier to remember due to the experiential engagement of the main idea. Lessons can be structured more traditionally if preferred. All age groups and areas are welcome. I am here to make your learning journey full of fun.
