About Jake
I am a History Graduate who has given private tutoring to seven other university students whilst undertaking my degree. I have received an award at university known as Herbert Marion Finegan Memorial Prize for the highest performance in a Medieval History paper for the year 2018/19. Although this was awarded for medieval history I am happy to teach any aspect of history from any time period and part of the world, everything peaks my interest.

Although my experience is tutoring at degree level, I can teach at GCSE, A level and university level (preferably first and second year students). I am originally from Portsmouth but now live in Liverpool, and have been studying history since a very early age.
My approach to teaching revolves around a student-centered method of instructing by operating under an open classroom model where the student may speak their mind on any aspect of what is being taught. We will undergo the learning process together so that the student may develop a more independent, hands-on attitude to learning that will significantly help them study outside of the classroom for their current exams and in the future. When studying history it is important to be objective, so I will actively encourage the student to look at all perspectives during the learning process.
