I am currently a full-time student who studies A-Level maths, physics and product design. When mentoring students I like to be very subject and person specific and ensure they fully understand each piece of content before moving onto the next.
My name is Annabel Matthews and I am a student from Hertfordshire currently studying for a BA in English from the University of Exeter. I know that everybody learns differently, so will take the time to get to know my students and tailor my lesson plans to suit what individuals need to know and how they will best be able to process the information we cover.
I approach tutoring with lots of experience as a successful English Literature student, encouraging students themselves to drive their learning and giving them the tools they need to fulfil their own potential.
Each lesson is tailored to the needs of the individual student. With some students it will be listening skills and with others it will be speech that they need help with. I have taught children as young as three through to older adults who were complete beginners. I have also improved the skills of more advanced students.
English is my passion and I enjoy teaching it as well as learning about it. As a subject with no 'right' answers I can understand the struggle students may go through when studying for their GCSE's.

I provide academic lessons (in accordance to the national curriculum) to students aged 5 - 11 years old. I also provide piano lessons to students aged 6 - 12 years old. Each session is tailor made to the student. I am familiar with differentiation. No student is the same and therefore I take a flexible approach to my teaching.

I teach secondary school students with a range of teaching methods that involve the student including making revision supplies such as flash cards and mind maps. Students who can pay for textbooks or already have textbooks will find these useful to make efficient notes from.
I aim to make my lessons stimulating, building on the strengths and interests of my students. Oral rehearsal and review is a very important aspect of my personal practice, as students have to play and manipulate language before they can use it effectively in their independent writing . I have taught students from the age of 4 years old to over 64 over in my tutoring career.
I have a first class BA in Education with English Literature from the University of Cambridge. I have been tutoring for 8 years now, and love engaging with so many different students over subjects that I love.
I am exceedingly enthusiastic and passionate about making learning fun, particularly appealing to those who are visual and kinaesthetic learners. Using all forms of media, audio, film, games, art and the socratic method of discussion to help guide students realise and discover information for themselves.

I studied music with the Suzuki method since the age of 4, and incorporate the thorough, creative, and engaging style into my teaching of any subject.
Although every student is individual, I believe the best way to teach is by first explaining and then giving them something to work through themselves.

I always go one step at a time and try to make learning fun. I encourage people to feel comfortable saying they do or do not understand something, which I think is important with tutoring as often times the student will just one to move on to the next topic.
