Hello! I've just finished my first year studying English Language and Literature at the University of Oxford, and am hoping to spend the summer vacation tutoring those who want help with both English and the Oxbridge entrance process. It's definitely a cliché, but nothing makes me more enthusiastic than reading and discussing literature.
I'm a bubbly talkative person who is very adaptable so will alter my teaching style in order to help you learn to not only manage but love English as much as I do. I can teach using things like mindmaps, cartoon strips or with simple and comprehensible notes.
My teaching is learner focused. You know what you need, I can help you get there by understanding how you like to learn and adapting my materials and approach to enable you to be successful. You’ll find me to be friendly and approachable, while always remaining professional.
Firstly, I will establish goals with the student, then devise a learning plan that suits those goals, with small attainments set along the way aimed at breaking down leaning into easy steps. I will offer creative feedback as well as asses composition, grammar and spelling if necessary. Students must be prepared to share creative work and respond to constructive criticism.
I am an extremely experienced language and literature teacher, excelling in boosting student confidence and by extension, results. Several of my students scored full marks in exam papers i tutored them for last year. Allowing all students to surpass expectation.
My teaching style is primarily led by the demands of my tutee. However, my belief is that issue based debates that encourage students to come forward in their own ideas- supported by a exam board approved framework that I can provide is the most effective manner of learning.
I am a enthusiastic and friendly humanities tutor who has recently graduated from Oxford University. I really enjoy being able to assist students who might benefit from a more personalised teaching experience, and finding the motivation required for students to perform at their highest ability.
I am comfortable teaching ages 5-18, I don’t stick within the confines of any specific teaching method. I enjoy getting to know my students and their passions and use these to my students advantage in understanding specific topics. I keep my lesson structure within 10 minute blocks of topic with suited activities.
I have tutored privately before and thus have plenty of experience in the field. I teach with a method that breaks down what it is you're having trouble with. Instead of looking at the bigger picture I prefer to dig a little deeper, get down to the basics and build upon those.
I have been teaching in the State sector for 25 years and have moved into tutoring. I have an English degree from Oxford and work with students on their spelling, grammar and literary comprehension. No job too big or too small.
Are you worried about your upcoming exams? Just need someone to sit down and explain everything properly? Then you’re looking in the right place:) No matter how late it is in the year when you’re reading this, there IS something I can help you do to save your grades! I am offering beginner to advanced English lessons and literacy to primary, secondary and GCSE students in Bristol.
I have many years experience in schools and tutoring . I really enjoy helping students achieving confidence and good results.
I am a highly qualified and fully trained English teacher. I have been working in UK and international schools for the last 8 years, and have taught students from Year 6 all the way through to GCSE and A-level. I have a Masters degree in English Literature and have also helped numerous students at university level to complete dissertation proposals and research essays.
I am a graduate of the University of the West of England (2:1 English Lit.) who has been teaching for 14 years. I love teaching and love working 1-2-1 with anyone who shares the same passion for the subject as I do. I teach KS3, KS4 and KS5. I can help you with basic grammar, spelling and punctuation, or prepare for you for GCSE or A-Level.
My teaching method is to read/focus on any texts/aspects of English a student may be having issues with and give feedback on how they may improve. Having studied English for four years at a higher level I understand the demands of the subject and what teachers are looking for at every level of education.
My teaching method is a responsive to the student's need. I believe it is my job to engage you and be able to relate content to you so that you can understand and absorb. I will first listen to what you think you are struggling with and identify what you hope to get out of our session.
I am a fun, bubbly 24 year old girl with a liven of children and a passion for learning. I believe that people learn best when the lessons are fun, engaging and interactive using many different approaches to keep them excited and interested. I think that using art, music, movement and as many different subject links as possible ensures that the learning is fun and relevant.
My approach is friendly and helpful, with a focus on bringing out the creativity and thought processes needed to excel at English Literature. Mind maps set the ideas flowing, and once a pupil is fluent in their thinking, I will ensure that they become fluent in their writing too.
I am currently studying performing arts at UCW I currently have BTEC in Childcare and a BTEC in Health and Social Care. I also have an OCN Level 1 in Disability Awareness and have been DBS checked and have completed a course in child protection. I specialise in tutoring children in primary school providing extra support if and where needed both with and without mental disabilities.
I to I teaching to meet the individual needs of my pupils. Lessons adjusted and reviewed weekly to ensure progress. Fun approach to motivate and engage reluctant learners. Detailed feedback given to parents. Homework can be provided if requested.
I have not taught before, but I would cater my lessons as much as possible to your needs. I believe in a thoroughly interactive learning experience and would want to get an idea of your knowledge and skills before deciding on a way to help.
I have extensive experience with a range of students, but most recent experience is with secondary school students in groups, as well as more student-centred individual tutorial classes. My classes focus on achieving clear language based learning objectives outlined from the outset, either directly from the student, or achievable goals that I feel will be most beneficial to the student.
My teaching method is positive reinforcement on self-learning, I assist via prompting questions and encouraging independent learning by giving the tools and then catering the approach to the student, some students will very independently jump to an answer when given the materials, others need to be shown and others know answers but struggle with their methodology.
I've been teaching and lecturing English for the last seven years (ESL/EAL/EAP) alongside developing and honing my skills as a scriptwriter. My academic background is in education and creative writing and I'm a fully qualified ESOL teacher (who's worked with teenagers, academic students - up to and including doctoral - and business clients).
I aim to run an intimate one to one teaching session with a consistent style of questions and answers to help students not only find out what they need to know but in doing so allow for growth and learning themselves and my aim in every lesson is that by the next session I will not be needed until a student is built to a professional level.
I am currently a 1-1 intervention support teacher, giving lessons in a primary school to children who need their confidence boosting, or who need another way of looking at that math's problem to help them understand and become a confident learner.
I focus on the individual and their strengths and weaknesses. Adjusting the pace, improving concentration and enjoyment in doing something the student is struggling with. I am really easygoing but know how to get stuff done- together we can improve your English skills.
After completing my A' Levels to a high level, I joined the University of Bristol with the view to continuing my academic success. Too often in schools, the teacher is perceived to be the only source of contact needed for students, but from having tutors myself, the skills and independence they bring is invaluable.
I tutor English and Maths to primary and secondary school pupils, tailoring my methods to the individual. Located opposite Clifton College, I work with students (and their families) to identify learning goals and then create a relaxed and productive environment to help them achieve. I have a basic DBS certificate (but full CRB checks can only be requested by employers).
I'm finishing my bachelor's degree and starting my master's in September. I currently tutor GCSE English language and literature. I think success is all about enjoyment and confidence. If you begin to enjoy a subject and find enthusiasm for it, and gain confidence at the same time, you are bound to do well.
