I am a professional maths tutor with 30 years of experience. I break maths down into small steps to make it understandable or I set hard challenges to stretch students. My approach is to teach using real-life problems, and past exam questions. I use the first few lessons to assess where a student needs help by working through suitable problems together.
I aim to provide the student first with a solid theoretical understanding of the subject before testing and honing their understanding through problems. I am applied this methodology both one on one and with groups up to 70 I'm size and found it to be effective.
I teach on a very individual basis and work on any weaknesses the student has. My approach is always building in depth understanding of the subject first as a solid foundation to being able to achieve highly in exams. I believe if the student finds a subject interesting, they'll work harder at it and I've been told I have a knack for making physics and mathematics interesting.
Initially i will ask the student what topic or problem they are struggling with the most. I will then work through the material with the student at their own pace, ensuring they understand each stage of the problem or each key aspect of the material. I will engage with the student and ask them questions to check their understanding.
I am highly adaptable to individual students needs and so I can plan my sessions to suit. I am very flexible in lessons and can switch topics on request as students require. I consider myself to be an engaging and supportive tutor who takes the stress out of lessons by responding to student needs quickly and effectively.
I aim to tailor my tutoring to students therefore maximising what they get out of each session but typically I will set work to be completed. This will allow me to identify the weaknesses that are present and spend all my time focused on rectifying them and bringing them up to a high standard.
I am very friendly and interactive with all my students. I believe they will be able to absorb the content easily if I have a very friendly more personal approach towards them rather than using conventional teaching methods. In addition being a student myself studying the same things not too far back I am certain I will be able to put myself in their shoes and identify their problems effectively.
My approach to tutoring is tailored individually. Students learn differently. I initially probe deeply into the level of understanding of the student. This gives me an indication of the gaps to fill, and the type of learner he/she is. I use ICT a lot in my teaching, and make the learning process practical .
My teaching methodology is a combination of 4 methods like demonstrating, collaborating, classroom discussion and debriefing. Although all methods are eligible, but the 4 i mentioned are the most successful methods and i prefer to always a easier path to make the students enjoy the lessons.
As in my opinion the most efficient and reliable way to learn maths and improve the ability to solve different math problems is by going through many examples, therefore in my sessions we will focus on applying a before introduced method/concept to solve different problems.
I have experience in teaching GCSE, A level and university students. My methodology mainly depends on the student level. I always try giving practical examples to facilitate the understanding and to make the subject more interesting then I bring examples and exercises that I do first so the student understands the method.
With a BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Statistics, a PGCE, and PGC in Business Administration, I have taught Maths, Statistics and Physics to all levels of students for more than 20 years. My teaching is fun-filled and anxiety-free.
I am a friendly university student studying Theoretical Physics. I tutor GCSE Maths and Sciences (with a specialism in Physics and Chemistry). I also tutor A-level Maths and Physics. In the lessons I will try to cover 1 topic each session.
I will receive my master degree this summer in the computing area. I'd like to be a tutor for any level students. My teaching methodology for maths is simple -- teach and exercise. Sometimes we cannot find solutions to some problems, this is not because we do not have the ability, but there is not the right person leading us on the right place. So I will try my best to show the right way for you.
I am available to give lessons up to A Level in Physics, Maths and Further Maths. My lesson structure is highly adaptable, and can be tailored to a student's needs. Lessons begin with a recap of the topic, reinforcing what has been taught in school. Worked examples are then used, to give the student experience with putting the theory into practice.
I'm currently a university student studying physics and astrophysics. I am happy to give lessons to anyone seeking help below degree level. All I ask is that you are optimistic and willing to try your best! I strongly believe that a true understanding is the key to success. I therefore place a large emphasis on ensuring a student fully understands a topic above anything else.
I'm happy to give lessons up to A-level standard in maths, physics and related subjects and I prefer teaching with examples and working through problems. I'd try to tailor my teaching style to the student and what would help them most but I don't tend to teach by rote because it's usually really boring and less engaging.

I am willing to teach at any level from primary school to A-level further maths. My preferred method of teaching is that the student already has in their mind the topics they would like to cover (and lets me know before the session), this will generally be topics that they're struggling the most with which I can help them understand better.
I do best one to one, but I am open to tutoring in groups of at most four people. I would prefer giving weekday or Saturday afternoon lessons in Huddersfield Library, but I am open to home visits if necessary.
