I am a very experienced teacher and mother of four, now grown up children. My passion is to teach children how to learn, rather than just what to learn.
I teach with the pupil in mind and the progress to be made. My teaching incorporates methods suitable for the individual I am working with, scaffolding and extending where necessary and having high expectations. Objectives and outcomes are clear and well defined and alluded to throughout and at the end of the session.

I am a naturally passionate and enthusiastic person, who is keen to help children in their learning. Teaching others brings joy to my work and since I have two younger brothers , who I regularly look after and am of course just a big sister too, I have developed a very adaptable attitude toward teaching.
I have special one to one lessons and group lessons where children join to do it with gill of their interest and grab the knowledge without any stress.
I teach GCSE mathematics as well as pure and statistics for first year A level. For each student I start by firstly knowing what topics they have already previously done and secondly, I find out what topics they feel weaker on so I can create a personalised plan for each individual.
I am passionate about helping students in aspects of their study that they find challenging. I am a well-qualified and patient tutor with over 30 years' experience of home tuition and over 25 years' experience of teaching in primary and secondary schools, colleges and adult education. I enjoy teaching and helping my pupils become confident in maths.
My lessons are student-led and orientated wholly around the needs and weaknesses of the student. My flexible approach means each if my students has a tailor made tuition plan and resources designed to build their confidence particularly in areas of difficulty.
I believe that the best way to learn is to make every effort to understand each concept by using lots of different methods and will bring that approach to my tutees. The moment a student starts to understand a concept is a fantastic moment for both tutor and tutee and this method ensures that everything is not forgotten the next day.
I'm friendly, patient and approachable, offering lessons to Primary and GCSE students. I focus my lessons on specific areas which require more attention, and can explain concepts in different ways to suit the individual's needs. I always ensure my students fully understand what is being taught and they are confident in each area.
I teach through problem-solving. When you are stuck or uncertain I take you through the key concepts and open your eyes to techniques, shortcuts and applications that will help you answer questions efficiently and accurately. I have just finished my A levels in Math, Physics and Computing. As a part of my school's initiative to improve my University Application, I was offered the chance to help a class with Math and I took this opportunity. I was assigned with a Year 10 class who were doing foundation Math. I helped them by leading them towards the answer, but they ultimately got the answer by themselves.
As a 21 year old student, I have recently passed Maths at all school levels up to A level. I will teach by going through past paper questions and working to the answers. I am passionate about Maths and hopefully I can portray that to my students.
Methodical and logical thinking is key in mathematics. Will be happy to teach upto gcse standard. I can teach at any capabilities, and will be very efficient in what I teach. I will go through everything that you are not 100% at. You can choose how I teach you, in person or online.
I am passionate about education and about encouraging students to become interested in subjects that may not be their strengths but that can become their strengths. My approach is individual to the student, as I can be dynamic, didactic or more to the point.
I make sure to elicit responses from my students that clearly demonstrate their understanding of the concepts we are covering, as opposed to just feeding them answers. I ensure that my students really understand the fundamental concepts of a subject as this is imperative for tackling complex problems.
My philosophy, like with most things, is that practice does indeed make perfection. To truely master something you need to spend around 15-20 hours practicing it, for instance going over a topic and specific questions on the topic will greatly improve your abilities. Targeting key areas.
This summer, I am moving from Salisbury to Southampton. I am afraid that long term tuition in the Salisbury area in the new academic year will not be possible. However, I would like to welcome onboard new tutees from Southampton.

While I hope to push students to do their very best and reach their full potential, I recognise that this means meeting different needs in different ways.
I base each session around the individual as everyone works differently and benefits from using different learning techniques.
