“The only way to learn Mathematics is to do Mathematics”, said Paul Halmos. I will never do a problem for a student but will explain things in such a clear way that they can do it themselves.
During a basic session I would go through a topic with the pupil, and then I'd practice some exam questions with them.
I am able to give tutelage up to university standard but am much more confident up to A-level quality. My teaching methods involve understanding fundamentals of the subject area before honing in skills with examples. I prefer for students to not simply remember how to do examples but understand the exact methodology behind the equations so they can adapt to any situation.
Practice makes perfect! By rigorously examining the subject, and applying your knowledge in as many different scenarios as possible, you will quickly master difficult aspects within maths and science.
I use a variety of strategies to teach different topics and I always pitch it to the strategy that best engages and progresses the child as an individual. I provide challenges with long term goals and set short term targets along the way as I find children respond best to success and praise on a regular basis.
I see maths as a new language, once you understand the basics you will find anything else much easier. My methods involve being well rested and and stressless, if you struggle on anything I assure you I will be able to help you.
Different students have different ways of understanding different subjects. At the first instance, I try to understand the specific level of the student and move on from there.
I like to tailor the learning to the student. It may be a subject they dislike, but I try to find and progress from a motivation. I am very patient, and tend to focus on exam prep but am happy to also plan lesson with adequate preparation time.
I like to bring a bright and full of humour atmosphere, as I think that really helps the student acquire new material better. Through my A-Levels I have found where to find additional material, extra papers/problems/questions for preparation and would like to bring those to lessons for additional prep (if asked of course).
SATS, 11+, 13+, GCSE and A-Levels all covered with enthusiasm and a true passion for the subject. I use a mix of puzzles and games as well as the usual methods of examples and questions. I aim to get the pupil to think of a set of having tools to solve problems. Engagement with the subject and material is key.
I prefer to have the first lesson to analyze the syllabus and allocate how much time we should spend on each topic. Once I have completed a topic, i give practice questions to give a more practical application and guage the students understanding. After i have completed the syllabus and questions specific to topics, i then give past exam papers which i mark and give feedback.
My teaching method is related on understand what are the difficulties of my students have and work on it to present it back to then on a easy way to be understood. I don't have a specific methodoligy and, as each student is unique, I tailor all lesson as they need it.
I have been teaching for over 10 years in schools in Spain. My lessons focus on how to understand, synthesise and solve the typical mathematics and physics problems, especially those that you will face in GSCE and A-level. And you will learn how to tackle them efficiently to cope with the usual time constrains of the exams.
Having been always told I was bad at maths as a kid, it took a lot of determination and hard work to get my grades. In my opinion, the reason why a lot of people struggle with maths is due to the fact that they believe they aren't talented. My approach to teaching therefore is to deconstruct the challenges that maths offers, building confidence and cementing the skill set needed to pass exams.
My teaching method is flexible, as a maths teacher I am comfortable teaching topics from scratch but equally happy to provide exam technique help etc. I can give lessons up to A Level and take a very flexible approach, moulding the lessons to fit the needs of the pupil. As a Maths teacher I have access to extensive resources and am happy to prepare content in advance of tutoring sessions.
My aim is to provide a lesson which will not only work through examples of a question but explain what you need to do to solve certain equations and more importantly where the methods come from to solve them yourself.
My name is Gemma, my degree covered a large basis in science and mathematics, having a masters degree In pharmaceutics. I mainly focus on GCSE but am fully capable at A level sciences too. Lessons can be flexible or structured depending on the pupils needs.
I teach Maths to GCSE level in schools on a daily basis. If you need help with understanding Maths or passing your exams I can help. If you're prepared to do the work I set you then you shouldn't have any problems.
I am currently 20 years old and studying for a degree in pure mathematics at the University of the West of England. I have three A-Levels (maths, physics and accounting) - I also have a Certificate of Higher Education in Accounting and Finance from the University of Swansea.
The first thing my students will do in my lesson is updating me on what they are currently doing at school so i am able to help them get more one on one practice in that module so that they are fully confident to answer questions
I understand that learning is a difficult process and therefore I am very understanding when it comes to learning. I support students in the learning process and try not to intimate them but instead I try to build their confidence up. I talk through examples slowly until the student is confident that he can understand it.
I give lessons to Key stage 4 and below and adopt a relaxed yet informative teaching style in which focus is places on understanding of principles rather than memorising of information. Lessons will be informal and onus will be placed in the student to think for themselves.
I am a recent graduate from Imperial College London in Biochemistry/Biotechnology with Management. I want to help students with mathematics and the sciences. I believe every student has their own optimum way of learning, and thus I will structure my lessons accordingly.
I believe any student is capable of achieving a high grade in GCSE Maths. Maths tends to be a subject which people often wrongly suggest you have to have a natural born affinity in order to do well.
I know that personally I learn best and am most engaged when I am active in completing tasks, and this is why I aim to make my lessons as interactive as possible! I think practice, practice and more practice is the only way to really improve and get to grips with something.
I have worked as both an Engineer and teacher of Physics and Mathematics. I specialise in A level / IB Physics along with A level Maths and GCSE Maths and Physics. My key goals are to assist the student in developing both a conceptual understanding of the subject and refining their exam technique.
My lessons are very pupil led. We normally go over things the pupils are doing in class and have been struggling with. If they are finding their class work easy I will try to expand what they are doing to a higher level.
I like to listen to a students concerns with a topic and lead them through problems with as much help as they need until they can tackle the problem on their own. The aim is for students to understand the principles of a topic and use what they learn to solve a new problem.
I am currently a post-A level student on a gap year. I can deliver lessons up to A level. I will be able to cover any required content in detail, and go through past papers and exam questions. I can also help with revision material closer to internal and external exams.
I find it best to take a friendly, engaging and encouraging. I try to relate all that I teach to real life examples to obtain maximum interest from my pupils. I work n an individual basis setting realistic goals based on each individual. I will push those capable further and further, but understand and enjoy working with those who require additional support.
