Back in school, maths was my favourite subject because of the satisfaction obtained when a problem is solved successfully. I like to break things down in a logical manner so students can see that complicated problems can be solved easily with several standard steps or formulae.
With experience as a classroom teaching assistant and private tutor, I work mainly with secondary school students helping them with GCSEs and A level exam prep. I can provide Worksheets and example questions if needed, and will work through these with the students helping them develop a deeper understanding of the mathematical principles and applying them to different styles of questions.
I am a college student studying AS biology, chemistry and PE, as well as A2 mathematics with statistics. I have 10 A* grades at GCSE, in a range of subjects, including English, french, German, physics, maths, biology, and chemistry.
From my experiences self-teaching my Maths and Physics A-levels I have a first-hand understanding of the obstacles students can face. Beginning with firm foundations, I work with students to build the intuition and confidence needed to explore these fascinating subjects.
I am studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey. I have a great passion for maths, having achieved A Level Mathematics at A*. My lessons are centred entirely around the pupils personal areas of weakness so they can really excel.
My name is Tara, currently in upper sixth and giving lessons to secondary and primary school students. I teach through explanation with various methods and then practice including fun exercises to consolidate knowledge to improve results in child’s exams and homework.
I am currently a 3rd year Chemical Engineering masters student at University of Surrey. I intend to give online lessons to increase reliability. I can help with content and also will help you with your study schedule and technique- will be most beneficial to GCSE and A-Level students, but open to helping undergraduate engineers too.
I am a final year Biomedical Science student providing lessons to students from secondary to A-level/BTEC levels. I have been tutoring for the past year in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and English. I am a friendly, hardworking tutor who believes that everyone has the potential to succeed. Through questions, homework, past papers, videos and hands-on approach, I help my tutees to excel.
My aim when tutoring children: I believed children need self confidence and a strong foundation of knowledge in order to be able to access their lessons in school. Lessons will be tailored to the students needs and we will move as quickly, or slowly, as needed in order to secure both their knowledge and confidence.
During the time when I was studying A-level Mathematics there were some areas where I seem to struggle more than others. I believe that by going through the students module and completing the syllabus early so that there is time work on areas where the student struggle and also to perfect methods that they already know by repetition of questions.
During my 5 years of Aerospace Engineering, i depended highly on text books because i think they give a lot of more details and well written, thus they give more insight on the subject at hand, so i think i will follow the same methodology in teaching
I currently study in MSc Entrepreneurship in University of Surrey. Just ask me if you don’t understand anythings in your class.
I'm a 29 years old girl with a master degree in Mathematics and Teaching and Scientific Communication. I've given maths lessons for many years and I've always been a friend for students of different ages. I firmly believe that we all learn and understand concepts in different ways.
I like to introduce topics with how they are related and how they interact with previous knowledge. Providing plenty of context and examples, to what each problem represents and how I would go about solving the problem personally. Step by step guidance to problems with worked examples, all while putting emphasis on the purpose behind each step in the process.
I try to approach each new topic by giving simple and easy to understand explanations of the general subject, and elaborate on this through varying exercises to ensure a full understanding. I also want to make sure that the student knows why they’re learning the topic other than just to pass the exam, so real-life situations are given to help aid knowledge.
I like to introduce topics and problems by explaining why we need an answer in the first place. Why is this equation important? Why do we need to use it? Why does it look the way it looks? I work from the belief that if a student has an understanding of why we need these solutions they will be more motivated to discover where such solutions come from and how to derive their own.
I am currently an undergraduate in aerospace engineering at the University of Surrey. I give math lessons to secondary and A-level students. I believe that having a strong mental confidence is very important when learning and teaching maths which is something I aim to do when teaching. My method is first, clearing out the student mind in order to avoid distractions while learning.
I am a postgraduate student at the university of Surrey. I come with a background in engineering and management, I have had mathematics as a major since high school, and I can teach all sorts of maths from Calculus, to Linear Algebra and Differential equations and basis maths as well.
I would be happy to teach Further Maths A level material and below or Physics A level and below respectively. I would go through the topics and focus on understanding the principles in each case: as I have been through the same process recently, I can see where the student is coming from and help to provide alternative perspectives in each case.
My teaching method is to put everything around general equations, teaching my students that there is no need for memorisation as long as there is sufficient practice.
Everyone learns differently and I believe that it is very important to adapt one's teaching style to suit each individual student in order for them to reach their full potential. During sessions, I usually consolidate on material that a pupil may have not understood in a lesson at school, before developing it further so that they are ahead of the class, if that is what suits the student.
I intend to help those struggling in Maths at A level and GCSE achieve the grades that they hope to achieve. An eye for precision helps me get the most out of my own work and those that I tutor, where I have achieved A* grades at GCSE and am predicted the same at A level. I am available for tutoring in person or over Skype.
I like to begin with identifying the areas the child feels most comfortable with and then what they find the hardest as it allows me to create a teaching plan which tackles the issues without dwelling on the things the child already knows well. I then create work sheets based on these areas and little quizzes to check information is being retained.
I base my teaching on prototype and real life experiences articulating concepts with relevant examples. I give lessons to A and o-level, degree and post graduate levels. I have access to many teaching materials and relevant databases and employ different teaching approaches.
My teaching method can be varied depending on the needs of the student. I generally start with background work giving examples then followed by practice questions. I will also help answer any questions regarding areas the student is finding difficult.
I give lessons on Maths, Physics and Chemistry up to A-Level. I like to work through examples in order to apply ideas learnt and really get us both thinking! This helps to gain a stronger understanding and feel more comfortable when it comes to exams.
Teacher/Tutor/Coach/Supervisor/Assessor and Financial Educator (FCA regulated) with BAmus teaching privately and in private schools , state schools and academies up to GCSE and teach adult learners. I create bespoke courses for students majoring on their individual learning skills. I am an optimist and major on personal development proving a holistic approach to learning.
In the introductory session, we will determine what type of learning is most effective for you and which aspects of the subject you struggle in. I will go over your specification and divide the syllabus into chunks so that we can cover them in time for your exams and to keep up with in-class teaching.
As an undergraduate, I am confident with my ability to teach up to A level Maths and Physics. The classes would be personalised to allow the student to enhance their understanding of subjects covered in lessons by covering a more detailed theoretical background and derivation - giving the student the ability and confidence to work with anything they experience in their lessons.
I try to use many different teaching methods including; discussion, notes, practice questions, games and physical activities. I try to use humour and analogies which are relevant and appropriate to the students level. Sessions are fun, memorable and have impact.
