I'm a full-time professional maths tutor with thousands of hours of experience of providing effective 1-1 tuition. I have a Cambridge maths degree, an abiding love for maths and a passion to help students enjoy and master maths for themselves! - Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach A-level mathematics and further mathematics, including IB and Cambridge Pre-U.
I run weekly individual and seminar sessions for a variety of secondary school ages. The sessions will be engaging, designed to promote group discussion and fun (I promise, maths can be!). The classes are run with termly agendas based on the National Curriculum with marked exams at the end of each term, including written feedback.
I base my classes on the work that the pupil is required to know with a range of teaching methods and revision methods
- Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach Science as my main subject, specialising in biology, but am also familiar with the primary curriculum and can offer help for pupils struggling at this level. - Tell me about your qualifications.
I am currently on my summer break from University where I study Mechanical Engineering. I achieved an A* in all 10 of my GCSEs, as well 4 A*s at A Levels, and I hope this demonstrates my understanding, depth of knowledge and work ethic, which in turn makes me believe I have the skillset and experience to help you with any problems you may have.
With experience as a classroom teaching assistant and private tutor, I work mainly with secondary school students helping them with GCSEs and A level exam prep. I can provide Worksheets and example questions if needed, and will work through these with the students helping them develop a deeper understanding of the mathematical principles and applying them to different styles of questions.
I am a professional Maths tutor with a degree in Engineering from Cambridge. Previously, I worked with Maths throughout my career (research physics, financial analyst in industry and the City of London). I enjoy helping people to succeed in Maths.
I am able to produce lesson materials and have a wide range of mathematical skills to answer any questions posed
Back in school, maths was my favourite subject because of the satisfaction obtained when a problem is solved successfully. I like to break things down in a logical manner so students can see that complicated problems can be solved easily with several standard steps or formulae.
I teach by approaching he areas you will most need help in and will cover whatever the person I a, tutoring feels they struggle with most and intend to ensure they understand the topic well enough to do as best as possible.
My teaching method is to introduce a topic, given students insights in to its applications, model examples for best practice and coach them through problems before have explore questions
I can either run through the GCSE topic syllabus in a course of approx 10 lessons i.e. one term. Alternatively, and with much more flexibility, the student can highlight topics of interest that we can delve much deeper into.
One to one sessions, focused improving your problem solving skills so you can apply the knowledge that you learnt in class. I will set exercises targeted towards the specific skills and techniques that you need to develop to answer questions.
My aim when tutoring children: I believed children need self confidence and a strong foundation of knowledge in order to be able to access their lessons in school. Lessons will be tailored to the students needs and we will move as quickly, or slowly, as needed in order to secure both their knowledge and confidence.
I go through each individual problem with the student, adapting my methods and approaches depending on the student's response. I will use every approach available to me to help my students understand the material they are working on. Then, after covering any materials for class, I often bring in my own worksheets for us to practice on.
My teaching method is based on the child’s interest. Eg, visual, hands on experience, pace and tests to close gaps.
Everyone learns differently and I believe that it is very important to adapt one's teaching style to suit each individual student in order for them to reach their full potential. During sessions, I usually consolidate on material that a pupil may have not understood in a lesson at school, before developing it further so that they are ahead of the class, if that is what suits the student.
I am a final year Biomedical Science student providing lessons to students from secondary to A-level/BTEC levels. I have been tutoring for the past year in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and English. I am a friendly, hardworking tutor who believes that everyone has the potential to succeed. Through questions, homework, past papers, videos and hands-on approach, I help my tutees to excel.
I can give lessons to anybody up to GCSE level, whether you are struggling with maths or just want to further your mathematical capabilities! My lessons are based on the students- I go at a pace you are comfortable with while still stretching your understanding and getting the best out of you, whatever your ability.
I will try to be a good tutor who will always be trying to teach in a calm and caring manner
1) Understand what you are struggling with, find you weakness. 2) Explain the fundamtals of each topic needed. 3) Walk through some examples. 4) Test what you have absorbed.
Through my time studying maths I have found the use of exam style questions and those form past papers to be the most effective method for myself, and is one I strongly believe in. I will structure the lessons around topics requested by the student, sourcing exam questions around this, whilst supplementing it with textbook content and broader knowledge.
I like to get students to think and arrive at the answers themselves, giving helpful hints and asking relevent questions if needed. I use relatable metaphors to make concepts easier to understand and remember. I like to work on aptitude and how to think rather than just what to think, as this improves fluid intelligence and performance.
I like to begin with identifying the areas the child feels most comfortable with and then what they find the hardest as it allows me to create a teaching plan which tackles the issues without dwelling on the things the child already knows well. I then create work sheets based on these areas and little quizzes to check information is being retained.
