Perfect! We are just starting with Linda but are already impressed by her thoroughness with regard to lesson planning and communication with follow ups after the lesson. Linda is a kind, patient and gentle teacher which is exactly what we need for our son who has learning challenges exacerbated by dyslexia. My daughter attended reading sessions with Linda for nearly two years at her home prior to COVID and then online for about a year (ages 8-10). My daughter was several years behind grade level on reading and spelling and could not constructively engage with the phonics appraoch the school was pushing.
Linda was always kind and friendly and showed a genuine interest in my daughter and her interests. Her patience and approach to reading, writing and spelling gave my daughter the practice and confidence she neeeded to start reading independently and spelling more accurately.
My daughter always left the sessions calm and happy and obviously concentrated well with Linda. Unlike in school, she made steady progress. Linda obviously improved her ability to concentrate on reading and to read and spell accurately without feeling overwhelmed.
Linda can give clear assessments of student reading and spelling level if appropriate for a baseline, to show others and/or to measure progress.Linda provided weekly spelling tuition for our 10 year old over a one year period. She is a friendly, professional, and reliable teacher, and I recommend her without reservation. As a direct result of her patient, engaging approach we have seen a significant growth in our child’s confidence in their writing, spelling, and grammar. Thanks Linda!
Linda is an amazing tutor who has excellent knowledge of the English Language and Creative Writing. She has helped me throught GCSE all the way to Masters in Architecture. With the help of lindas tutoring over the years, my final essay was chosen to be featured in the university summer show. She has the ability to help her students reach their full potential.
Linda helped me with the writing of my personal statement for applying MA. She is a very patient and determined tutor, and her lesson was well-structured. She helped me figure out a clear structure of my statement and pointed out the problem of the grammar. My statement got a great improvement after having the class with Linda. I will definitely recommend her to anyone who needs help with English writing.
I can highly recommend Linda. My son has mild specific dyslexic issues. Linda helped to identify these and set a simple strategy for addressing them. She did this in a thorough, thoughtful manner putting my son first at every step of the way. She is an interesting and sensitive tutor with years of experience. All of which was evident in her approach and attitude to learning.
Linda has been working with my 8 year old daughter, Sophia, for the past year. During this time Linda has brought on my daughter's spelling and confidence tremendously. Linda is reliable and provides a safe and relaxing environment to learn. Sophia actually looks forward to seeing Linda. I would recommend Linda to anyone who feels their child needs some extra help.
My daughter has been a student of Linda’s for over 3 years. She goes into the lessons happily and I have seen a huge improvement in her writing, reading and spelling skills. I would recommend Linda as a tutor for children with dyslexia.
Linda has been helping my son Robin, who is dyslexic, for a couple of years now. He has loved working with her and each session has also boosted his confidence. Linda's patience and structured approach has definitely helped him improve his reading & spelling as well as acquiring a methodical approach to learning.
Linda was recommended to us by a friend and she has been a godsend to our son. Initially she undertook a comprehensive assessment of his ability in Reading, Writing and SPAG, which was eye-opening as we had never had such detail from school. This was then followed by weekly 1 hourly meetings, during term times, targeting the areas that needed special attention and also taking into account the topics school would be focusing on during Years 5 & 6. She is quietly calm and determined, her motto being "little and often" which worked well for our son and was very appropriate as we had two years to ensure our son reached a reasonable KS2 level before going to secondary school. I would have no hesitation recommending Linda, her non-aggressive approach was exactly what we, as a family, needed.
I first took my son to Linda in September 2014 after a disappointing SATS results had really dented his confidence. My husband researched many possible suitable tutors, but Linda stood out head and shoulders above the others for her experience and quality. I can honestly say that using Linda as a tutor for my son has been worth every penny. Not only have his grades leapt up at secondary school but more importantly he has gained in confidence and approaches other subjects with the same enthusiasm as English.
Linda has a wonderful empathy and teaching style, and my son looks forward to his lesson each week. My son has learnt more in using Linda's techniques over several months, than from the many years of home teaching after school which I tried. Linda works with students of many differing abilities and achieves great results at all levels. I have already recommended Linda to several friends and would thoroughly recommend Linda as a brilliant tutor.
I just wanted to write to you regarding how happy Edward and and I are with the sessions he is having with you. Thank you for providing a very welcoming and nurturing environment. Last year when we came to you following yet another teacher change in Year 2, (continued)
we were concerned that Edward was falling behind specifically with reading and comprehension.
Your assessment session really helped us understand where he was and the last term of weekly hourly sessions have made a real impactView more recommendations
