About Myra

I am a Physics tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MPhil in Physics. My teaching embraces a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, connecting physics with art and restoration. I focus especially on how light interacts with pigments, material analysis, and the science of conservation. Using art historical examples, I help students understand the physical properties behind artistic masterpieces. I incorporate principles of non-destructive testing to explain how scientists study artworks without causing damage. This approach bridges physics with cultural heritage, making the subject rich and engaging. I have worked closely with art history students, conservationists, and anyone interested in the scientific side of preserving art. My lessons explore how physics helps reveal hidden details in paintings and sculptures. I guide students to appreciate the delicate balance of materials and light that gives artworks their unique character. By understanding these concepts, learners develop a deeper respect for both science and art. I enjoy supporting students in applying physics practically, especially in fields related to conservation science. Together, we uncover the stories behind artworks through scientific investigation. My goal is to inspire curiosity and a passion for preserving cultural treasures. Physics is not just about equations; it’s a tool to protect and understand human creativity. I warmly welcome anyone eager to explore this fascinating intersection of science and art.

My teaching approach in Physics is gentle and reflective, focusing on practical scientific inquiry. I believe that understanding comes best through hands-on experience and curiosity-driven learning. I emphasize experimental design, helping students plan clear and effective experiments. Alongside this, I guide them through data analysis and error propagation, showing how to interpret results carefully and accurately. Scientific reporting is also a key part of my lessons, where I teach students how to communicate their findings clearly and confidently.

I encourage students to become DIY scientists, exploring physics concepts by themselves while providing the support they need. My goal is to help each learner discover their unique way of investigating scientific problems. This builds confidence and develops critical thinking skills that go beyond textbooks. I focus on creating a safe space where questions are welcomed, and mistakes are seen as learning opportunities. Through tailored guidance, I help students excel in both their exams and practical laboratory work.

Together, we will explore physics in a way that makes sense and feels exciting. My method supports steady progress while encouraging curiosity and creativity. Whether preparing for tests or working on assignments, I help students gain a deep and lasting understanding of physics concepts. This approach makes learning meaningful and enjoyable.
