About Francesca
Kia ora, I'm Francesca. I'm a multi-talented creative with a strong focus in Creative Communication, Writing, and Journalism. I've worked in Journalism, Media, and Podcasting since 2018 when I started as an intern at a radio station in my last year of high school. I achieved excellence endorsed in NCEA Levels 2 & 3 and Top of Journalism (which at my high school was a combination class of Media Studies and English) in Y12 & Y13 and Photography in Y13. I'm a Bachelor of Communications Graduate (Major in Literary & Creative Communications, Minor in Creative Writing) from Victoria University of Wellington. At university, I achieved a consistent A-grade average while working multiple jobs on top of my full-time study. I have just completed my year-long editorship at Salient Magazine where I won multiple awards at the Aotearoa Student Publication Awards, including Best Publication (a first for Salient since 2011), Best Editorial (based on my editorial achievements and writing), and runner-up Best Personal Essay for a piece of my own.

I have an excellent understanding that each lesson depends on the student. I believe that awareness that each person has a different brain and learning method is crucial to teaching. I aim to work with students in a workshop style, providing extensive feedback on tasks and talking through what was successful and what still needs work. I will be patient and go as slow as needed, step by step, using goals and targets as incentives. My skills from working as an editor and manager make me extremely well-prepared to support students to better their writing.
