About Timothy
I am a Master's Graduate from LSE in Philosophy and Public Policy. My core research interests are applied ethical decision-making, focusing on transformative AI. I work in a demanding field which requires constant learning and discussing with my cohort. Teaching becomes an essential skill both in being able to explain your work but also being able to identify the areas that you struggle with such that you can improve your understanding. It is this skill set that I wish to bring to the table, not only to help you learn, but also to provide you a toolkit for approaching any learning curve.

I think mathematics is best understood as a collection of rules which have extraordinary real-world applications. My approach to teaching maths is about getting you to understand the rules and the deductions that can be made from them, drawing upon their real-world applications to demonstrate how it all neatly hangs together.
I like to have quite an open lesson plan, working around your individual development rather than having a course designed for a general group - each case is different, and I will require you to be quite reflective on what you do know, what you don't know, and helping me guide your learning. Once I have a comprehensive understanding of your learning needs, I will be able to put together my lesson plans. This typically involves getting to grips with some concept and working through problem sheets together until you can explain it to me.
I have a Master's from LSE in Philosophy and Public Policy, specialising in Applied Ethical Decision Theory. Before that, I also studied Philosophy at KCL, taking many modules within logic, philosophy of science and mathematics. I have experience teaching logic.
Since I am teaching for GCSEs and A Levels, I will mainly be working with those between 14 and 18 years old.
