About Maitland
I have greatly enjoyed my years working one-on-one with students in middle school, high school, and college. I began tutoring in students in physics and math while I was in high school, and it sparked my lifelong investment in students' educations. In college, I continued to teach as a telescope operator and lab instructor for introductory astronomy classes, which was my first experience teaching large groups of students. I then began working as a program coordinator and mentor, creating a holistic support program for underrepresented minority students in STEM. This involved creating a curriculum, designing and facilitating workshops, mentoring students about their future studies, and one-on-one tutoring. Feedback from my students and (their parents, in the case of middle and high school students) over the years has been overwhelmingly positive, with students' grades significantly increasing by the conclusion of the regular tutoring schedule.

I believe that students have their own unique knowledge bases, skill sets, and educational styles. My job as a tutor is to learn from my students as I teach them to develop themselves not only as students, but as scholars and critical thinkers.
I tailor every lesson to the student's individual needs and learning style. I love teaching middle school and high school students, as well as college students taking their first physics classes!
