I taught math with main focus on basics rather than bookish formulas and algorithms. Generally, I start the course with the very basic and often I tried to link each topic with a more familiar situation in order to ensure that the student could adapt to the problems. For complicated calculations, I mostly used vedic mathematics techniques to make calculations as simple as one plus one equals two.
