About Farouq
I am a veterinarian (Dr. Vet. Med.) and PhD scientist with more than eight years of experience in research and university teaching in biological and biomedical sciences. I completed my PhD in Infectious Diseases and Molecular Biology at the University of Adelaide and have taught and coordinated courses in biology, physiology, microbiology and related life-science subjects at the University of Adelaide, James Cook University, and Southwest University (China). I am also an award-winning educator, recognized for my commitment to clear, inclusive and student-centered teaching. I enjoy helping students understand challenging scientific concepts and supporting them to achieve strong academic results with confidence.

My name is Farouq, and I am a veterinarian (Dr. Vet. Med.) and PhD scientist with extensive experience in university teaching and research in biological and biomedical sciences. I offer tutoring in biology, chemistry, physiology, and related life-science subjects for both high school and university students. I am also an award-winning educator, recognised for my commitment to clear, inclusive, and student-centred teaching.
My teaching approach focuses on building strong conceptual understanding rather than simple memorisation. I break down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and use diagrams, real-world examples, and problem-solving exercises to reinforce learning.
A typical lesson lasts around 60 minutes, during which we review challenging topics, clarify key concepts, and work through exam-style questions. My lessons are suitable for senior high school students as well as undergraduate students studying biology, biomedical science, health science, medicine, or veterinary science.
